These sweet treats bring together the perfect mix of flavors—a fresh strawberry dipped in rich chocolate makes an amazing taste combination.

Whether you're planning a romantic dessert or want to impress guests at your next party, homemade chocolate strawberries make a stunning presentation that looks way more complicated than it actually is. Try them for Valentine's Day, birthdays, anniversaries or Christmas treats.

    Ingredients You'll Need

This chocolate-covered strawberry recipe is super easy. You only need a few basic ingredients!

Bowls of strawberries, chocolate chips, sprinkles and coconut oil.
    • Fresh Strawberries – Pick bright red, firm, ripe berries with green leaves still attached. Make sure to wash and dry them completely before dipping.
    • Chocolate Chips – Choose milk, dark, or white chocolate chips. The chips melt quickly and don’t require chopping like chocolate bars.
    • Coconut Oil – Adding a small amount helps thin the chocolate and creates a smooth, shiny coating.
    • Sprinkles (optional) – These add a fun pop of color and crunch! Try rainbow jimmies, chocolate sprinkles or other candy decorations.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

Let your strawberries reach room temperature while you prep the chocolate. Set a wire rack over parchment paper to catch the drips.

Put chocolate chips and a spoonful of coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 2 minutes, stopping every 30 seconds to stir. Mix until smooth and completely melted.

Hold each strawberry by its leaves and dip it in the melted chocolate. Twist it gently to coat all sides. Let extra chocolate drip off.

Place your dipped strawberries on the wire rack. Try not to let them touch each other.

Pop them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes until the chocolate sets firm. Store them in the refrigerator if you're not eating them right away.

    How To Serve

Chocolate-dipped strawberries taste best when served at room temperature. Take them out of the fridge 30 minutes before eating.

For the best texture, eat your strawberries within 24 hours.

    Variations

You can dress up your chocolate-covered strawberries in many ways. The classic version uses plain dark or milk chocolate, but using different coatings or fun toppings makes them extra special.

    • White and dark chocolate combinations – Dip strawberries in white chocolate first, then dip the sides in dark chocolate for a tuxedo effect.
    • Add texture – Roll dipped strawberries in crushed nuts like almonds, pistachios, or hazelnuts while the chocolate is still wet.
    • Try these easy toppings – Sprinkle with shredded coconut, crushed cookies or candy pieces to add different flavors.
    • Experiment with types of chocolate – Milk, dark, semi-sweet or white chocolate all work great for a coating or extra drizzle.

    Storage

Chocolate-covered strawberries are best enjoyed the day you make them, but if you need to store them, keep them in the fridge and eat them within a day or two.

To help them stay fresh, place them in an airtight container lined with paper towels to absorb excess moisture. Keep them in a single layer if possible, but if you need to stack them, place a sheet of wax paper between layers to prevent sticking.

Take them out of the fridge about 30 minutes before eating so they can warm up slightly and taste their best.
