When you know a hurricane is on a direct path toward where you live, you always want to prepare in advance. Everyone knows the basics of what you need to have one hand: batteries, fresh water, a flashlight, etc.
However, here are some useful items you may not have thought to put on your hurricane prep list.

Things you need for a hurricane
The best plan is to be prepared for hurricane season well in advance. Always make sure you have the basics on your hurricane prep list. Then take a look at some of these items that you just might need during a hurricane or afterward.
What happens if you have no electricity and stores are closed for several days? These innovative products can be essential resources in this situation to help you cook, charge your electronics, provide lights, listen to the news and weather, and more—even when your batteries run out!
Inflatable Solar Lantern
Lighting is everything, especially if the power happens to go out for an unknown amount of time. These lanterns are pretty amazing because of their unique design in how they are inflatable, plus the lanterns are solar-powered. Most solar-powered lanterns can emit a slightly weak amount of light, but because of its unique design, these emit a generous amount of light and has a USB port so you can charge your cell phone!
CampStove Bundle with CampStove, Portable Grill and KettlePot Attachments and USB FlexLight
This is one of my favorite products that I have to share with you! It's a thermoelectric stove that runs off of very little kindling. It already has a built-in USB port charger, plus you can cook on it with its grill top attachment, or boil water for you in its KettlePot if you want hot water for tea, coffee, or cocoa. If you're going to have to be without power for a while, then this is one of the best investments that you can make for yourself. It's so amazing, and something you will use over and over again. Just be sure to use it outside in a safe area!
Solar Powered Hand Crank Radio
This is the best radio to have when it comes to having natural disasters arise. Not only does it charge cellphone devices, but you can charge the radio battery via hand crank and solar power. Comprehensive coverage of AM, FM, 2-band shortwave and 7 pre-programmed NOAA weather channels for entertainment, sports, talk shows, breaking news around the world, and 24/7 real-time weather forecast (USA and Canada ONLY) with PEAS (Public Emergency Alert System).
Vacuum Storage Space Saver Bags
You may not think that you need Vacuum SpaceSaver bags, but these are going to be an amazing investment. Yes, they're meant for storage, but since they are airtight, you can use them to protect important documents and other items you cherish. Especially blankets that family members might have made, and those stuffed animals that your children can't live without.
Real Food Protein Bars
Most people don't think about buying meal bars, but I do. There's only a limited amount of food that you can pack in your home or car (if you have to evacuate). You can't rely on your fridge because of the possibility of a power outage; however, you can rely on high protein meal bars for your meal replacements or snacks. They will provide you with the essential nutrients that your body needs. These bars are made with real food, and free from added sugars, gluten, soy, dairy, or any artificial or processed ingredients.
Multifunctional Knife Axe with Hammer
Everybody needs one of these handy little gadgets in their life. It's so much better than having to carry a full tool chest around with you, and you always have a few of the basic tools available at your fingertips. You just might have a need for a screwdriver, a hammer, or even a small basic saw. It's a great space-saving tool to keep in your car. I definitely could have used this more than just a couple of times.
Hopefully, these products have given you some ideas on what you could use in case of a hurricane. Whether the power goes out or not, you will be fully secure in knowing that you have your family covered no matter what their needs are.
Do you have any products that are your go-to items in case of a hurricane? Leave me a comment! I would love to see what they are.
